John has extensive experience in both government and business, having served as a Canadian Member of Parliament and on behalf of clients in China, Taiwan, other Pacific Rim countries, and Canada for almost 25 years. He speaks English, Mandarin, and French and has studied German, Spanish, and Polish.
His business background includes advising on international trade, cross-border taxation, and public policy as well as Aboriginal matters.
John served as the first Commercial Assistant at the Canadian Trade Office in its inaugural year. Earlier, he worked for British Columbia’s Deputy Minister of Constitutional Affairs and for the Government of Quebec in the lead-up to the patriation of Canada’s Constitution. He also initiated the Canadian Constitution Foundation, a charitable foundation which promotes individual rights.
John is a graduate of Harvard University and Osgoode Hall Law School.
